Finally, I get to write about something other than my arduous labor of game development.

For many years, I’ve thrown away Halloween. I always have big dreams about dressing up SCARY! Something genuinely unnerving, make the children quiver in fear. But I always end up sitting with this idea for far too long, and I end up going last minute as Link, Dwight Shrute(or what people perceived as Jeffery Dahlmer), or “Prison Mike!”. Throwaways. Don’t get me wrong, a goody costume can be hilarious and fun, but it’s usually a decision only made in last minute defeat, for lack of a better costume.

Not this year. No, I’m going to dress up as the costume I’ve dreamed of being since grade 5.

Everybody has seen this strange forest demon on their for-you page at least once in their lives during the spooky season, and thought.. “Damn; that’s scary!”. The uncanny nature of its movement, the unsettling featureless face, and the unfamiliar shape of something not quite human. Of course, I’m talking about The Spirit Walker.

The spirit walker.. an uncanny mix of nature and childhood nightmares.

Since I was a young child, I have always tried to tell my parents about this horrid beast, frantically trying to explain to them.. “it’s this big.. creature costume… with…”. Alas, until now nothing was sufficient. This Monday, my stilts arrived. High quality durable metal that will support my already tall frame, next on the agenda is a shopping trip to savers for some crutches to support my arms.

Need to go out to Micheals for some foam to put on the crutches to give it more of a quadpedal look, with actual “joints” that extend far out from the top of my shoulder.

Will keep this blog updated with new posts whenever there are developments in my costume. Stay spooky, Happy Halloween!
